How to clean the dust on your ceiling fanUpdated a month ago
Ever noticed your ceiling fans seem to have a knack for collecting dust, but there are a few tricks to keep them cleaner for longer:
- Use an old pillowcase or encasement – slip it over each blade and slowly wipe it down. This traps the dust inside the cover, rather than letting it make a mess on the furniture or the floor.
- Take Your Shoes Off - Stop tracking in dirt. Every time you take a step, it puts dust in the air.
- Regularly Change Air Filters – Dust in the air contributes to the buildup on fan blades. Keeping air filters clean helps reduce the number of airborne particles.
- Improve Air Circulation – Keeping windows closed during high pollen seasons and using an air purifier can reduce airborne particles that settle on the fan.
- Run the Fan Often – While it won’t eliminate dust, running the fan regularly can help prevent excessive buildup by keeping air circulating.
- Use Dryer Sheets – Wiping the blades with dryer sheets can help reduce static cling, making it more difficult for dust to settle.
